In adherence to the United Nations General Assembly focus in implementing internationally agreed goals and commitments also known as SDGs especially in the area of quality education and the role of Non-Governmental Organizations towards this course has become one of the core areas of intervention for the LiveBridge Foundation.
LiveBridge Foundation Quality Education Program (QEP) works to improve lives and provide opportunities for individuals through increased participation in formal and alternative education systems.
The QEP is designed around specific needs of the communities being implemented, integration of innovative technology tools for more effective and engaging programming, capacity building- increasing physical infrastructure as well as strategic partnerships, developed by LBF. The team works closely with government-run schools and the different levels within the government.
In light of this initiative, in 2018, LBF in partnership with the Switzerland Embassy renovated and furnished classrooms, constructed toilets, provided an automated borehole water supply system for Zugurma Community School, Mashegu Local Government Area in Niger State, Nigeria. A total number of 370 books and other instructional materials were donated to aid effective learning.
LBF also took to note that girls in the community start sexual activities as early as 8years, for reasons related to poverty. In respect to this, however, plans were put in place to construct a skill acquisition center for the girls.
Getting the entire community involved in education, instead of just the students, is vital to the success of projects for LBF. It seeks to nurture leadership skills amongst the youth and offer alternative education opportunities for young people who have never been enrolled or dropped out of school early by engaging communities to find the best sustainable solution to provide access to vocational training.
